Our latest Cultures United Conversation featured a special presentation from Janice Munemitsu, author of The Kindness of Color: The Story of Two Families and Mendez, et al. v. Westminster, the 1947 Desegregation of California Public Schools, discussing her book. Based on true events, Janice shared the story of two immigrant families who came to Southern California for better lives, only to face their own separate battles against racism during World War II. The paths of their families would lead to justice and desegregation for all school children in California, the precursor to Brown v. Education in 1954. A huge thank you to Janice for sharing such an impactful story. Share the event recording with your network!
