For connecting with Janice Munemitsu & Sylvia Mendez

I want to use portions of The Kindness of Color in another book, film or project that I am working on. Do I need permission to use the photos and text in my project?

Yes, The Kindness of Color is copyrighted by the author and you will need permission to use any of the photos and/or text in any other published project. Please email info@thekindnessofcolor.com with your request and include your name, the type and nature of your project, contact email and phone, what photos or text you want to use and it will be reviewed for possible approval of use. 

  • Use of any photos or text by students exclusively for a book report or class project is welcome and does not require any approval of use.  

Without written permission, the contents, text, and photos of this book cannot be used by others.

Is the author available for interviews for individual student school assignments?

Unfortunately, due to time and schedule, the author is not available for individual interviews for school assignments.

Is the author available for interviews by the press - newspapers, magazines, bloggers, social influencers, radio, TV, or other media?

Yes, please email info@thekindnessofcolor.com with your name, press organization, purpose of the interview, deadline timing, and best dates/times to connect with you. We will reply as soon as possible within 3-5 days.

Is the author available for speaking engagements?

The author will try to accommodate speaking to groups as time and logistics allow. 

By video call (Zoom, Skype, etc.), availability is dependent on the date and time requested.

In person may be possible in Orange County, CA depending on the purpose of the gathering, location, date and time requested. 

  • Out of Orange County, CA will depend on the purpose of the gathering, location, date, time. Out of Orange County, CA may require reimbursement for travel expenses.

Is the author available to speak to my classroom?

The author will try to accommodate speaking to classrooms by video call (Zoom, Skype, etc.). By video call, availability is dependent on the date and time requested.

  • In person may be possible for classrooms in Orange County, CA depending on the location, date and time requested.

Would Sylvia Mendez come speak to my group or classroom? 

Due to so many interview requests, unfortunately Sylvia is available on a very limited basis to larger groups of 200+ only, depending on the location, date and time requested. 

Sylvia is not available by video call (Zoom, Skype, etc.) for smaller groups or classrooms.

Sylvia is available for press and media interviews. Please send details as noted below.
